All permanent makeup fades, this is completely normal and part of how modern pigments are designed to behave. Rather than remaining heavy or blocky, the colour gradually softens over time.

At Tail & Blush, I work with a combination of high-quality organic, hybrid, and mineral-based pigments. Each type behaves slightly differently as it fades. Organic and hybrid pigments may soften slightly cooler or more muted, while mineral-based pigments can fade a little warmer depending on the skin.

Pigment behaviour is influenced by skin type, undertone, lifestyle, and aftercare, which is why expert colour selection is essential. Every shade is carefully customised using advanced colour theory to ensure it heals beautifully and fades in a balanced, flattering way.

With precise placement and regular maintenance appointments, results remain soft, natural, and beautifully maintained.

Results typically last 1–3 years, gradually fading over time. A refresh appointment can maintain your desired look.

Comfort is prioritised throughout. A professional numbing cream is applied to ensure the treatment feels manageable and relaxed. Please avoid caffeine on the day of the appointment and alcohol 24 hours prior to avoid sensitivity.

The colour will appear slightly stronger at first, then soften beautifully as it heals over 4–6 weeks. You may experience some peeling and scabbing in the area during the 7-10 day healing period. Swelling on the lips can happen during appointment and should completely subside within 24 hours.

A perfecting session is recommended 6–8 weeks after your initial treatment to refine and enhance the final result.

Permanent makeup is a safe and advanced treatment when carried out correctly, however it may not be suitable if you:

• Are currently pregnant or breastfeeding

• Are taking Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) or have completed a course within the last 6–12 months

• Have an active skin condition, infection, or irritation in the treatment area

• Are undergoing chemotherapy or certain medical treatments. (unless doctor authorisation)

• Have uncontrolled diabetes or a blood clotting disorder

• Have recently had facial surgery, laser, chemical peels, or microneedling in the treatment area

• Have had Botox within the last 2 weeks (treatment should be scheduled at least 2 weeks after)

• Have had lip filler within the last 4 weeks prior to a lip blush treatment

If you have any medical conditions or are unsure about your suitability, please get in touch prior to booking. Your safety and healing are always the priority.

• Avoid alcohol 24 hours before

• Avoid blood-thinning medication (if medically safe to do so)

• Take a break from retinol or active skincare ingredients (including acids, exfoliants, vitamin c serums) on the facial area for at least two weeks prior. This is very important and can hinder results if not followed

.• Avoid caffeine on the day of your appointment

• Do not wax, tint or laminate brows immediately before

• Avoid sunbeds, sunburn, or facial treatments (chemical peels, microneedling, laser) on the treatment area for 2–4 weeks prior

• If booking lip blush, ensure lips are well hydrated and not dry in the days leading up to your appointment

• If you are prone to cold sores, please consult your GP regarding antiviral medication prior to a lip treatment

• Arrive with your usual makeup style so we can discuss your preference
